L-Serine is a naturally occurring amino acid involved in the production of proteins, phospholipids, and sphingolipids that are important components of cells and nervous-system tissue. It also serves as a precursor to compounds including glycine and cysteine and plays a role in normal cellular metabolism. L-Serine has been studied in human neurological research at a wide range of doses. In a six-month Phase I trial in patients with ALS, researchers evaluated doses ranging from 0.5 grams to 15 grams twice daily and found L-serine was generally well tolerated in the small study (Levine et al., 2017). Double Wood provides a more moderate 2,000 mg daily serving for general supplementation. Soy-Free, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Vegan
